Lilium(百合花)은 2013년에 밴드 리더 YiShuo가 유튜브에 두 개의 데모를 올리면서 시작된 대만의 3인조 록 밴드입니다. YiShuo는 리드 보컬과 기타, 그리고 전통 현악기를 연주하며, WeiZuo는 일렉트릭 베이스와 백업 보컬, I-Hsin은 드럼, 타악기와 백업 보컬을 맡고 있습니다. 2019년, 첫 앨범 “Burnana”를 발표하며 큰 주목을 받았습니다. 이 앨범에서는 대만 전통 음악인 남관(南管)과 북관(北管)의 요소를 적극적으로 도입하였고, 전통 음악계의 저명한 연주자들과 협력하여 이러한 전통적 요소들을 밴드의 음악에 깊이 있게 반영했습니다. 2021년에는 보사노바, 신스웨이브, 디스코 펑크 등 다양한 장르를 대만 전통 음악의 사운드와 결합한 앨범 “Road to…”를 발매했습니다. 이 앨범은 2022년 제33회 GMA에서 최우수 대만어 앨범과 최우수 앨범 디자인상을 수상하며 인기를 끌었습니다. 릴리움의 음악적 발전과 더불어 공연 스타일도 확장하며, 3인조 구성을 넘어 다양한 악기 연주자들과 음악가들을 초대하여 일렉트릭 기타, 신시사이저, 플루트, 대만 전통 관악기 등을 더해 다채로운 음악색을 선보이고 있습니다.

Lilium(百合花) began in 2013 when band leader and lead singer YiShuo released two demos on YouTube, forming the foundation of their music as a three-piece rock band performing in Taiwanese Hokkien: YiShuo on lead vocals, guitar, and traditional string instruments; WeiZuo on electric bass and backup vocals; and I-Hsin on drums, percussion, and backup vocals. In 2019, they gained significant attention with their debut album “Burnana,” which incorporated elements of traditional Taiwanese music, such as Nanguan and Beiguan, through YiShuo’s collaborations with established traditional musicians. This marked a turning point in their music. Their 2021 album, “Road to…,” produced with Golden Melody Award winner Sonic Deadhorse, fused Bossa Nova, Synthwave, and Disco-Funk with Taiwanese traditional music. The album earned them Best Taiwanese Hokkien Album and Best Album Design at the 33rd Golden Melody Awards in 2022, solidifying their mainstream presence. As Lilium evolved, they expanded beyond their original trio, incorporating additional musicians and instruments like electric guitar, synthesizer, flute, and traditional Taiwanese pipes into their live performances, further enriching their sound.
